Exiting The Bus
- Once students exit the bus, students will be escorted down the walkway by a staff member(s):Turner, Wilson practicing social distancing to the cafeteria.
- Students will enter the cafeteria on the west side of the building.
- Students’ temperatures will be checked by the district installed scanner upon entry to the building.
Entering the cafeteria in the morning
- Once students enter the cafeteria, students will walk through a metal detector, and their bags checked. (Ms. Lee, Mr. Carr)
- Once students are through the metal detector, they will proceed through the breakfast line.
- Before the students enter the breakfast line, they will sanitize their hands.
- Once the students are through the breakfast line, they will be escorted to their respective classrooms.
- Students will be accompanied to their classes by Instructional Support Assistants, School Counselor, and the Trauma-Sensitive Clinician.
- Students will move in groups of 10 or less in the hallway.
- Teachers will be in their respective classrooms to greet their students.
- Mr. Howard will be in the cafeteria coordinating the movement of students to their classes.
- Trash from breakfast will be thrown away in the classrooms.
- Students in classrooms with sinks will be able to wash their hands after breakfast.
- Students without sinks in their classes will be taken to the restrooms to wash their hands.
Late Arrivals
- Upon arrival Ms. May will alert available leadership team members of parent and student presence.
- The parent and student will be admitted in the foyer area when a staff member can meet them at the door.
- The student’s temperature will be checked by a district installed scanner and verified by the staff member, while the parent is present.
- The parent(s)/guardian(s) will sign the student in and exit the building.
- The student will proceed to the main office to see Ms. May to complete arrival procedures.
Isolation Room
Staff or student becomes sick
- If a student becomes sick, the classroom para will escort the student to the Nurse’s Office.
- If a staff member becomes sick, the staff member will alert Ms. May, who will then notify administration.
- Administration will contact Human Resources.
- The classroom paraprofessional will take over the room and lead students in sanitizing the classroom before resuming classroom activities.
- The sick staff member will leave the building to seek medical care.
Hallway Procedures
- Face masks are required while in the hallways and traveling to other locations on campus.
- While in the halls, all students will need to walk with their hands behind their backs to prevent the students from touching objects and or each other.
- The hallways will also be marked to direct the flow of traffic and to provide social distancing guidelines.
Restroom Procedures
- K-2 and Music have restroom facilities in the classroom for student use.
- K-2 classrooms will need to create Restroom procedures for students: (Teachers create a cleaning procedure that directs students to wash hands and use disinfectant to wipe down high traffic areas.)
- All restrooms will be cleaned on an hourly basis by custodial staff.
- For Grades 3-6, Instructional Support Assistants will escort students to and from the restroom on an as-needed basis. (Students will also need to follow a cleaning procedure).
- For Art and Library, students will need to use the restroom prior to reporting to Art and Library Class.
Staff Restrooms
- Staff members will use the facilities designated for staff (restrooms on the K-2 Hallway and the restroom located in the Teachers’ Workroom).
- Staff members will disinfect to clean the restroom/stall before and after use.
- Nurse’s restroom will be solely used by sick students.
- The Principal’s restroom will be solely used by front office staff.
While in school
- Face coverings throughout the day are mandatory.
- Every effort should be made to limit large gatherings of students in the hallway, shared spaces, cafeteria, library, gym, etc.
- Social distancing of 6 feet will be required throughout the day.
- When social distancing is not possible, masks must be worn.
- Security doors will be limited to one way traffic and labeled as an entry or exit door.
- Keeping students grouped together with the same group of students as much as possible. Doing so will be a benefit if contact tracing becomes necessary.
- Classes that will be held outside should still practice social distancing.
- Students will be required to sanitize their hands upon leaving and returning to their classrooms.
- Disinfectant wipes should be used at each class change (Art, Music, Library, and PE) and on an as-needed basis in the classrooms throughout the day.
- It is recommended that during transition periods that each class sanitizes all workspaces and high traffic areas.
- Students should have their own set of classroom supplies in a baggie or school supply box.
- During group work, students will work at the kidney table with either cardboard dividers or using social distancing.
- Teachers will create a unit of study that will teach proper hygiene and social distancing practices for students.
Lunch Guidelines
- There will be two Instructional Support Assistants assigned to each lunch period.
- The Clinician, School Counselor, and the Behavior Therapist will each cover a lunch period.
- Students will enter the cafeteria, practicing 6ft. social distancing and will sanitize their hands.
- Students will sit two or three to a table facing one direction.
- Once all students are seated, lunch will be brought to each table by the cafeteria manager.
- Students will not be allowed to leave their seats once they are seated.
- Students will still be allowed to bring their lunches.
- Students will not be allowed to share food at any time.
- No outside food will be permitted from families for classroom celebrations.
- The lunch monitor will come around with the trash can to allow students to throw their trash away.
Recess
- Students must wear their masks during recess activities.
- Recess can take place in the classrooms or outside.
- Mr. Jones will sanitize the outdoor recess equipment after each class.
- Games and materials used for recess will need to be sanitized before and after each use.
- Students and staff must continue to practice social distancing measures during recess.
Teacher Plan Periods
- During plan periods, teachers will be allowed to move about freely.
- The teacher’s lounge will be restricted to 4 people at a time for social distancing.
- Staff members will not be allowed to use the refrigerator during this time.
- Teachers must practice social distancing measures, clean and sanitize before and after use
Student Dismissal
- Staggered dismissal.
- Once the majority of the buses are on campus, dismissal will start.
- Mr. Carr will write the order of the busses on a display board for teachers to identify for their students.
- Ms. May will begin the dismissal process by requesting that students and staff prepare for dismissal.
- Announcements for dismissal will be made in the following order K-2nd/Art/Music, 3rd/Library, and 4th-6/PE.
- After a group is dismissed and on their busses, Mr. Carr will radio Ms. May to indicate that the group is clear. Ms. May will then release the next group.
- Upon leaving the classes, students will sanitize their hands and put on their masks.
- Teachers will escort their students to the bus/parent pick up area for dismissal.
- If a parent is not present during dismissal, the student will remain with their assigned teacher in the cafeteria until 4:25 pm.
- After 4:25 pm, teachers will be released, and designated staff members will supervise the remaining students.
- Once students leave the building, they will not be permitted to return.
Office Protocol
- Visitors will be allowed in the building for emergencies. All other visits will be by appointment only and limited to the front office.
- Early dismissals are discouraged, but if it is necessary, parents must provide advance notice to Ms. May.
- It is advised that as much business as possible be conducted via technology--telephone, email, video calls.
- Customer service is paramount.
